CMW has announced that a new version of WinPwn, v2.5, is entering it's final stages and will be released later this week. The update will contain some new features, including QuickPwn support for 2.0/2.0.1/2.0.2, a DFU helper, and an automatic updater, among other things. He also included a few screenshots which you can see after the break.

The dev team recently updated QuickPwn, their latest app for jailbreaking and pwning iPhones and iPod touches on WIndows, to work with the new software update, version 2.0.2. The program can now pwn and jailbreak any of the iDevices running either v2.0, 2.0.1, or the 2.0.2 software update released recently. They note that the software is still in beta, so it's still at "use at your own risk!" status. You can download the new tool here.

The Dev Team has just released a new tool for all you Windows users out there. It's called QuickPwn, and it lets you jailbreak your iPhone more quickly and easily than the PwnageTool on the Mac or WInPwn. QuickPwn uses a new jailbreaking technique that they say "has been available to the iPhone research and hacking community for about 5 days now (if you looked hard enough)".

The iPhone Dev Team has just released a new version of the PwnageTool, version 2.0.2. The new version includes an updated version of Cydia, as well as a new public beta of Installer 4. It can jailbreak iPhones running either 2.x or 1.1.4/1.1.5, the iPod touch, and now the iPhone 3G running the latest software update (although an unlock for the 3G update is still not available). Well, the 2.0.1 firmware update has been released, and users are reporting problems. Not too surprisingly, first-gen iPhones that have been jailbroken and/or unlocked are un-jailbroken by the update, so you'll lose access to all of your unofficial, third party apps. The Dev Team is already hard at work on an updated Pwnage tool for 2.0.1. However, the update is a little more serious for iPhone 3G owners.

A beta version of Installer 4 that was seeded to repository owners was leaked this weekend, releasing the alternative app source to the iPhone-hacking community. The new version has been highly anticipated, as it will be the first to run on the 2.0 software, meaning it will run along side the App Store.

Just a few days ago, the Apple DRM on SEGA's smash hit Super Monkey Ball for the iPhone was cracked by a group of hackers that allowed anyone to download the hacked copy and install it for free on their device. Since then, the method has been tested on several other apps, and it seems to work on all of them.

RiPDev, the people working on Installer.app, have posted a progress report on their blog complete with pictures of the upcoming version #4 of their alternative to the official App Store. The crew says that they're in the last stages of connecting the GUI to the back-end of the tool. In the meantime, here are some screenshots:

Those waiting for 3rd party unofficial apps on their iPhone running the 2.0 software will be happy to hear that progress is being made on getting Installer.app 4 working. People close to the project claim that the unofficial software utility is nearing completion. Currently they say that they are currently working on connecting a revamped graphical interface to the functional component of the software. When this is completed, repository authors will be asked to come on board for testing.

A small group of hackers are claiming to have successfully hacked Super Monkey Ball, cracking Apple's Fairplay DRM and allowing anyone to download it for free and install it on their iPhones. Some commenters on the site claim to have been able to download the game and get it running on their jailbroken iPhones, while others claim it didn't work for them, questioning the hack's legitimacy.
